I am so glad you asked. I hoped someone would raise this exact point. So why should you care, I would argue that value investing is about being a black sheep. When people are greedy be fearful when people are fearful get greedy. People are getting greedy, 15% is too much in a month. Be cautious right now, November and December value investors could make snap decisions confident that things had to rise as companies were drastically undervalued. Now times are changing again and we need to pull back and make sure we are making the right buys, and for some investors out there perhaps even some shorts. The seasons are changing be careful that you don't confuse value with garbage.
Thanks for the great comment!

Why should we care about the DOW, unless of course we are investing in an index fund. Instead, focus on individual stocks that are healthy despite the current situation AND are drastically undervalued. Then if the market returns quickly and values them properly fantastic, take your profits. Or if the market crawls to a recovery so what, you still got in at fantastic prices. Many of the sound buys out there are well under book value already, the potential downside is much smaller than the upside.

Don't try and time the market, find value and buy it.
