Stock and… Cheese?

Cheese 200x200 Stock and... Cheese?BNN is traditionally a channel for day traders- the what is hot today conversations often litter the broadcast. If you have been a reader of my blog it is needless to say this channel therefore doesn’t normally interest me. While flipping around the TV the other night I accidentally landed on BNN which was showing an episode of the series Stock and Awe as it differs from their normal format of stock “experts” and speculation I paused to give it a watch.

Credit to the writers for a cute name for the show- though I am a little unsure what the bombing of Baghdad and building a successful portfolio have in common- the natural connection seems (hopefully) unintended.  After sitting through the whole program I had two thoughts: that was some of the cheesiest TV I have seen in a while, and this show is exactly what any amateur investor should be watching.

The program I happened to catch showed an interesting tool for risk comparison (that I have been playing with and will provide a review of independently later), provided a simple explanation of the workings of the commodity market, and squeaked in a conversation of the tax advantages of investing in Canadian DRIPS.

As I said earlier the show is heavy on the cheese. Host Hillary Doyle puts it on pretty heavy. It seems obvious the show does not have a significant budget as it has a distinctly Canadian feel to the broadcast- but like I said it is pretty content heavy. If you can put up with that though check it out.
